12 Hilarious Comedy Songs That Will Always Be Number One
Musical comedy is a hard trick to pull off. Usually the sight of some dickwad pulling out a guitar is met with groans and shaking of heads, and the reaction to them introducing a 'chucklesome little tune' is something akin to a room full of people attempting to chew their own faces off. It's an ugly business, yes indeed.
But like any business, there are amateurs and there are pros. These, ladies and gentlemen, are the pros. The professionals. The lucky buggers who were not only blessed with sharp wits and observant eyes, but also with the rare ability to hold a tune. When combined, they come up with some of the funniest songs ever comitted to tape. Or computer - who knows how this stuff works? Scientists don't even know. It's that sophisticated.
1. Bill Bailey - Love Song
Bill Bailey's show Part Troll is so rammed with contemporary classics, it was difficult to choose just one. But Love Song had to win by virtue of its own epicness.
2. Victoria Wood - The Ballad of Barry and Freda
RIP Victoria. The Ballad of Barry and Freda proves just what a genius she was, not that it needed proving.
3. Flight Of The Conchords - Hiphopopotamus vs. Rhymenoceros
Before the TV show, Flight of the Conchords leapt to fame with this live special. Featuring contemporary classics such as Albie the Racist Dragon and Business Time, there wasn't a teen alive in the 00s who didn't know all the words to this rap odyssey.
4. The Lonely Island - Threw It On The Ground
Even if you've never heard of The Lonely Island, you'll definitely have heard one of their songs. Dick In A Box, perhaps. Or maybe Jizz In My Pants. This song is neither of those two, but it's damn funny.
5. Sarah Silverman - I’m Fucking Matt Damon
Backstory: TV host Jimmy Kimmel and Sarah Silverman used to go out, but obviously broke up. So who does she move on with? Some actor that Jimmy just doesn't have time for.
6. "Weird Al" Yankovic - White & Nerdy
Honestly, it's impossible to just pick one Weird Al song. Go listen to them all, now.
7. Lil Dicky - Ex-Boyfriend
Is this guy for real? Is he? Seriously, is he? Dude's got a truly sickening flow, so one assumes he is, as they say, legitimate. Either way, it's funny shit.
8. Bo Burnham - Sad
God damn you, Bo Burnham. It wasn't enough to be a brilliant pianist and musician, you had to go and be funny too. Looks like someone went back for seconds from the talent trough, didn't they? And you got it all over your face, too.
9. Spinal Tap - Sex Farm
"Working on a sex farm, ploughing through your bean field." If that's not funny to you, don't even bother watching This Is Spinal Tap, because it's too good for the likes of you.
10. Tim Minchin - Prejudice
Wha... what is he talking about? He's not about to say that word is he? Oh god, he might be about to say that word. Tim. Tim, no!
11. Garfunkel and Oates - The Loophole
People say that anal sex is too easy a target. For comedy, that is. In all other walks of life, anal sex is generally regarded as... you know, let's not even get into it. Bit of a sore subject.
12. David Brent - Free Love Freeway
But wait, there's more! Order Free Love Freeway now and get Spaceman Came Down and The Serpent That Guards The Gates Of Hell free - don't wait!
