An updated listing of Love Songs Played as of Mar 7.pdf
Mar. 5
As there have been no additional love songs created this week, here are the updated Songbook files for this Sunday. The Songbook now has 207 songs, 335 pages.
I've incorporated all the new songs (Appendix 1 and Appendix 2) into The Display Edition. See page 6 for the listing and page numbers. The four newest songs (Appendix 2) are on pages 326-335.
I've also created a separate Appendix file that contains just the new songs (Appendices 1 & 2). The four newest songs (App. 2) are on pages 30-39.
There is a compressed file containing all of the newest songs. The only change to existing files is to add a version number on the "Deep Purple" song sheets (pages 307-310 of the Display Edition). If you have already printed these song sheets, you can make that clarification by pen and ink.
I'll have two additional sets of song sheets for the Highlands Songbook (March 14). Keith said that he might have a couple more as well. I'll keep everyone posted.
Here's the list of long songs that we've sung through Sunday, Feb. 28.
Here are song sheets for four songs, updated or new.
Crazy (C & G)_2021-02-16 DA.pdf (missing line of chords added and then transposed into the key of G).
Something (C & G)_2021-02-28 DA.pdf (reformatted and transposed) (C & G)
The Long And Winding Road (Am & Em)_2021-02-28.pdf. New (Am & Em)
While My Guitar Gently Weeps (Am & Dm)_2021-02-28 DA.pdf. New (Am & Dm)

Here's the list of love songs that we've sung through Sunday, Feb. 21. There are no new or updated songs for today.
Feb. 20 - 10:15 am
Oops. I forgot the compressed file of all this week's new and updated songs. Here it is: PDF_2021-02-20.zip.

Some collections for you. First, just the new and updated songs. Can be used both for Display and Print. (11 songs, 29 pages)
The Display Version, with new and updated songs in an Appendix. (205 songs, 323 pages)
The Print Version is not being updated with the new songs; the Appendix was designed as its supplement.
And finally the list of Love Songs Played on Jan 31 & Feb 7.pdf.
Feb. 19
Five new or updated songs today. These songs will be in an Appendix to the existing Songbooks.
Keith's song that was in Landscape form has been converted to Portrait, and is now in both C & G: All I Have To Do Is Dream.
Another one that we've sung before in our Zoom Jams, Dream A Little Dream Of Me (in F) plus this copy in C & G: Dream a Little Dream of Me . . . or, if you prefer, in all three: Dream a Little Dream of Me (F, C & G).
A new song for us is Paul McCartney's answer to some critics: Silly Love Songs (in C & G). If songbooks had a mascot, this song would be it.
Corrections were made to Sinatra's version of "All of Me" plus a version in G has been added. I got carried away and also created the version performed by Willie Nelson on "Stardust."
Corrections have been made to both the C and G versions of "Deep Purple," and in doing some research, I found a song sheet based on the original sheet music (with a ridiculous number of chords) but which was reduced to a somewhat reasonable number (15).
Feb. 17
Six new or updated songs for you:
Keith has provided another song: L-O-V-E (in C & G).
And this is one of Keith's songs from the "New Orleans" collection: Long Cool Woman in a Black Dress (in G & D).
A World Without Love has been transposed into C & G to supplement Keith's version in F.
A song we sang earlier in our Zoom sessions: A Kind of Hush, now in C & G.
Top of the World (C) has been corrected and also transposed to the key of G.
Corrections have been made to The Honeydippers version of "Sea of Love," and Keith has added the 1959 original by Phil Phillips & the Twilighters: Sea of Love (C) (Phillips & Honeydippers).
All of these songs and any other additions will be added as an Appendix to the Songbooks, which will be posted later this week. Notes and YouTube links are below.
Feb. 7 - 10:45 am
Last week, Theresa mentioned that the Morristown Uke Jam had a good arrangement for one of the songs that we were covering: Getting To Know You (from The King And I).pdf.
This group has put a *lot* of material on-line using Dropbox (744 song sheets, 93 songbooks, and 4 workshop files). See: Morristown Uke Jam.
Feb. 6 - 7:30 am
Well, it's been a busy week with Love Songs. The First Edition (Jan. 25) was 77 songs, 121 pages. The Second Edition (Jan 31) was 175 songs, 271 pages. We're now up to 200 songs, 295 pages, including a number of updates.
All of the new songs and updated songs have been compiled into new Songbooks, and there is an updated Zip file of all the songs. There are still some corrections to be made from our Jan. 31 session. I've got my eye on several new songs for the collection, and there are several songs that I would like to update as well. But these will become a new addendum as they become available.

For myself, I like to scan through the Contents pages before a session to get an idea about what songs I'd like to hear. Here is the Cover and Contents of the Display version of this week's Love Songs Theme Songbook:
Work continues on this web page, but it will be a while before this work is complete.

Annie's
Song (John Denver, 1973) (C & G) "Annie's Song" was written as an ode to Denver's wife at the time, Annie Martell Denver. Denver "wrote this song in July 1973 in about ten-and-a-half minutes one day on a ski lift" to the top of Ajax Mountain in Aspen, Colorado, as the physical exhilaration of having "just skied down a very difficult run" and the feeling of total immersion in the beauty of the colors and sounds that filled all senses inspired him to think about his wife. Annie Denver recalls the beginnings: "It was written after John and I had gone through a pretty intense time together and things were pretty good for us. He left to go skiing and he got on the Ajax chair on Aspen mountain and the song just came to him. He skied down and came home and wrote it down... Initially it was a love song and it was given to me through him, and yet for him it became a bit like a prayer." Annie's Song, Wikipedia |
